IOC-DAADIO-VME-A (Analog/Digital)

The IOC-DAADIO-VME board is a low cost, high functionality, analog/digital I/O product.

The board combines the functionality of digital-to-analog conversion (DAC), analog-to-digital conversion (ADC), and parallel input/output interface (PIO) on a double-height (6U) VMEbus board. Any of these functions (DAC, ADC, PIO) can be implemented singularly or in combination to tailor the board to specific needs.

DAC Module Features

  • 8 voltage output channels
  • 12-bit resolution per channel
  • 5 mA drive capability (+/-10 V into 2 k Ohm)
  • Multiplying DAC capability, that is, outputs may be scaled to external AC or DC reference signals
  • Output voltage ranges independently jumper selectable as +/-10 V, +/-5 V,
  • 0-10 V, 0-5 V, or unipolar or bipolar externally referenced (user supplied)
  • Straight binary (unipolar), offset binary, or two’s complement (bipolar) input codes supported
  • Remote sensing of output voltages (user selectable, per channel)
  • Automatic 0 V output from Reset and Power-Up
  • Output short circuit protection (indefinite duration - voltage and current outputs).

ADC Module Features

  • 12-bit or 8-bit converter resolution, software selectable
  • 32 input lines, configurable as 32 single-ended or pseudo-differential inputs, or 16 differential inputs
  • Selection of 0-10 V, 5 V, and 10 V input ranges
  • Selection of unipolar or bipolar voltage inputs
  • Programmable gains of 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 with gains of 10, 20, 40, 80, and 160
  • 12 us A/D converter for high input sampling rate or 8 us A/D converter
  • Pipelined architecture provides throughputs up to 160 kHz (with 8 us A/D)
  • VMEbus interrupter signals end of conversion and pipeline empty
  • Programmable interrupt levels
  • 70 Vpp overvoltage protection
  • Overvoltage error bit

PIO Module Features

  • 48-bits of byte-wide
  • Outputs tristate-able under software control
  • 22 k pull-ups provided at all inputs
  • I/O lines power-up (reset condition) as inputs pulled high
  • Some I/O channels have programmable interrupt capability
  • 24 mA output current sink
  • Control register allows software enabling (disabling) of each of six byte-wide I/O port registered outputs.

Common Features

  • VMEbus Standard double-height (6U) form factor
  • A16 slave supporting D16 and D08(EO) data transfers
  • Responds to address modifier (AM) codes $29 and/or $2D
